Shadeotech Material Warranty Policy
At Shadeotech, we stand behind the quality of our products and are committed to customer satisfaction. This warranty is limited to material defects and is provided under the terms outlined below.
Warranty Coverage:
Duration:
- Aluminum Components: Lifetime warranty on aluminum components (e.g., frames, brackets) against defects in material and workmanship.
- Fabrics: Warranty coverage on fabrics ranges from 5 to 10 years, depending on the type of fabric used. The exact warranty period will be specified at the time of purchase, based on the selected fabric.
- Motorized Products and Smart Shades: Warranty extends for a limited time from the date of purchase (typically 5 years) for motorized parts and solar chargers. Non-rechargeable batteries are not covered.
What is Covered:
- Materials and Components: Includes defects in materials, stitching, hardware, and aluminum components.
- Motorized Products: Covers defects in motors and solar chargers.
- Smart Shades System: Includes Smart Hub, Touch Control, and Remotes for the limited time.
Exclusions:
This warranty does not cover the following:
- Physical Damage:
- Duo (Zebra) or Tri Shades: If the shades pull the wrong cord in the wrong direction, or if this leads to fabric damage, it will be considered physical damage and is not covered under the warranty.
- Battery and Charging:
- Rechargeable Battery Motor: Must be charged using the provided charger. Using any other charger will void the warranty.
- Reprogramming and Remote & Programming Policy:
- Any required reprogramming will incur a service fee. Shadeotech will not cover the costs of reprogramming unless done during the initial service period.
- If a remote is damaged (dropped, exposed to moisture, or tampered with), or if there are alterations to the programming, the warranty will be void. This includes tampering with the motor housing, wiring, or attempting reprogramming without Shadeotech’s guidance. Any service to fix issues caused by tampering will incur a trip charge starting at $125, plus repair/replacement costs.
- Solar Panel Obstruction Policy:
- If an obstruction (e.g., furniture, fixtures, landscaping, new construction) appears in front of a solar panel after installation, repositioning the panel will incur a trip charge.
- Exterior Shades:
- Installation on Sloped Surfaces:
Shadeotech is not responsible if the shade does not provide complete coverage when installed on sloped patios, uneven surfaces, or surfaces that require modification for proper installation. Shadeotech is also not responsible for any aesthetic issues or surface modifications that occur as a result of adjustments made during installation. - Extreme Weather:
Warranty will be void if exterior shades are damaged during extreme weather (e.g., high winds, freezing rain, hail, or other weather conditions that trigger official weather alerts) or if the shades are left down during such conditions. This may result in damage to the fabric, zipper, mechanisms, and the system itself.
- Installation on Sloped Surfaces:
Additionally, extreme weather conditions may impact the surrounding walls, bricks, stucco, wood, or any other adjacent surfaces where the shade is mounted. Shadeotech will not be responsible for any resulting damage to these surfaces. Customers are advised to retract the shades during adverse weather to prevent any damage to both the shade system and surrounding surfaces.
- Surface Modifications:
If the installation surface has stonework, masonry, or other hard surfaces that interfere with the proper installation of the shades, Shadeotech may need to modify the surface using foam, shims, or other materials for proper installation. Shadeotech is not responsible for any aesthetic issues, alterations, or surface damage that result from these necessary modifications.
- Surface Modifications:
- Fabric Wrapping Disclaimer:
- Fabric Wrapping of Cassette/Bottom Rail: We do not recommend fabric wrapping the cassette or bottom rail. Any issues arising from this (such as dirt buildup or tape wear) will not be covered under warranty. Replacement can be done at an additional charge.
- Third-Party Electrical Work:
- Any electrical work carried out by third parties is not covered under the warranty.
- Third-Party Smart Hub:
- Third-party Smart Hubs or devices that are not Shadeotech-approved will not be covered by our warranty. Only Shadeotech’s official Smart Hub and related devices are eligible for coverage under this warranty.
Please Note:
- We do not send installers to re-program motorization, replace solar panels, or Smart Shade peripherals, charge, or change batteries. Our motorization is simple to program, and we can talk you through these tasks easily. However, we can send technicians, if the customer is willing to pay a service fee.
- If the customer claims that the motor is not charging, and Shadeotech sends a technician to inspect, and it is discovered that the solar panel was removed or charged using the wrong charger or plugged in incorrectly, Shadeotech will send an invoice for the service fee.
Shipping and Installation Services Costs:
- Shipping costs are your responsibility. Our Care experts will explain any applicable charges to you when you call.
- Installation services are not covered after one year. In many cases, you can easily repair the existing treatment, or install any replacements, yourself. We’ll be glad to talk you through the process. All repairs are completed at our factory.
- If you would like one of our professionals to come to your home to uninstall and reinstall your window treatments, there will be a charge for each service trip. Our Care experts will provide the cost when you call.
