Wire-guide screens, explained.
What is a wire-guide screen?
An exterior roller screen that runs between tensioned stainless steel cables on each side. The cables keep the fabric stable and in line as it raises and lowers.
Wire guide or zip-track: which do I need?
Zip-track screens lock the fabric edges into side channels, so they stand up better to wind and seal out insects. Wire-guide screens leave the edges free, which makes them a cost-effective choice where you mainly want sun and glare control. <a href="/exterior-zip-track-screens/">Compare zip-track screens</a>.
Do wire-guide screens keep bugs out?
Not completely. The fabric edges are not sealed in a channel. If insects are the main concern, choose zip-track screens.
How big can a wire-guide screen be?
Up to 23 ft wide or 16 ft tall, with a maximum of 376 sq ft per screen in the largest headbox.
What happens when it gets windy?
Add a solar-powered wind sensor. It measures wind speed and raises the screens automatically when gusts pass a set level.
Can I control the screens from my phone?
Yes. Every screen comes with a remote, and a smart hub adds app control, schedules and voice control with Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit.
How long does it take to get exterior screens?
Exterior screens are made in our Carrollton factory in about 2–4 weeks. Our technicians then install them, usually in one visit.
What does the warranty cover?
Our written limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship: motors and controls for 5 years, and fabrics for 5 to 10 years depending on the fabric. Register within 30 days of installation to be covered.
