Duo shades, explained.
What are duo (zebra) shades?
Duo shades, also called zebra shades, use two layers of fabric with alternating sheer and solid bands. As the layers move, the bands either line up to let light through or overlap for privacy.
What is the difference between duo and tri sheer shades?
Duo shades use flat bands that slide past each other. Tri sheer shades have soft fabric vanes between two sheers that tilt open and closed, for a softer, more layered look. Both control light without slats. <a href="/tri-shades/">See tri sheer shades</a>.
Do duo shades block all light?
No. Room-dimming duo fabrics block most light, but some still comes through. For a fully dark room, pair them with a blackout roller shade or choose a <a href="/roller-shades/">blackout roller</a> instead.
Are duo shades good for bedrooms?
Yes, in a room-dimming fabric. You get privacy at night and soft light in the morning from the same shade.
Can duo shades be motorized?
Yes. Choose ShadeoSmart, Somfy or Rollease Acmeda motors with rechargeable battery or hardwired power, then control them by remote, app, Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit.
How long does it take to get duo shades?
With in-stock fabrics, our Carrollton factory makes them in about 3–4 working days. Our technicians then install them, usually in one visit.
What does the warranty cover?
Our written limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship: motors and controls for 5 years, and fabrics for 5 to 10 years depending on the fabric. Register within 30 days of installation to be covered.
