Upgrade your Duo Shades with motorization, providing seamless and effortless control at the touch of a button. Choose between rechargeable battery-powered motors for a hassle-free, wire-free setup or hardwired motors for a continuous power solution. We recommend battery-powered motors for their simplicity—no additional electrical work is needed, and they only require recharging every 6–12 months via the included USB-C charger. For even greater convenience, you can also add a solar panel to the rechargeable battery, allowing it to automatically charge itself for a truly maintenance-free experience. Integrate your shades with a smart hub to enable remote operation, voice control, and automated scheduling through your favorite smart device.

FAQ

What makes your Duo Shades unique?
Our Duo Shades feature an exclusive line of certified fabrics for superior quality and durability. We use a closed bottom rail to keep the fabrics as close together as possible, enhancing aesthetics while preventing dust and insects from getting in. If you choose manual operation, we color-coordinate the cord and customize its length for added safety and style unlike other companies that leave it hanging.
What is the warranty coverage?
Our shades come with a limited lifetime warranty. As long as you remain in your home and the issue is due to our fault, we will replace your shades at no charge. Be sure to register your shades to be eligible for any warranty claims.
Are Duo and Zebra the same thing?
Yes, Duo Shades and Zebra Shades are the same. While Zebra is widely used, at Shadeotech, we refer to them as Duo Shades to emphasize their dual functionality.
How long does Manufacturing take?
Our shades can be manufactured in as little as two days, but due to high order volumes, installation typically takes place within a few days to 2–3 weeks after ordering. For urgent needs, we offer expedited manufacturing to prioritize your order. In rare cases, delays may occur if fabrics are discontinued or unavailable at our DFW production facility.
How long will Installation take?
Installation time depends on the number of windows and how level they are. For an entire home, installation typically takes 4–5 hours. Please ensure an adult is present during installation and that the walkways to the windows are clear for our team.
Will there be gaps on the sides?
Yes, a small sliver of light will be visible on both sides due to the shade’s operating mechanism. In Texas homes, where walls are often not perfectly straight, we take measurements from the narrowest point to ensure a proper fit, which may result in slightly larger gaps. If this is a concern, you can opt for side channels to minimize the light gaps.
Why don’t you recommend fabric-wrapping the cassette and bottom rail?
Fabric-wrapping requires cutting and taping fabric onto the aluminum, which can lead to visible seams since most Duo Shade fabrics aren’t wide enough to cover the cassette in one piece. Over time, dust and debris may also accumulate in the fabric’s grooves, making it harder to maintain. Instead, we color-coordinate our aluminum cassettes and bottom rails to match your selected fabric, offering a sleek, seamless, and low-maintenance finish in White, Ivory, Anodized, or Black. We recommend keeping the aluminum exposed for the best long-term durability and aesthetics.
Will the fabric and sheer align perfectly?
Yes! We are just as much of a perfectionist as you are. During your consultation, we take precise measurements to ensure all fabric and sheer lines align. For multiple windows in a row, we may adjust measurements based on the shortest window height to maintain a consistent look.
Will the shades be in an open or closed position when fully lowered?
Our standard setting is for the shades to be closed when fully lowered. However, if you prefer them to be in the open position, just let us know during your consultation, and we can customize them to your preference.
How often do I need to clean my Duo Shades?
No regular cleaning is required. We use a closed bottom rail cap to minimize anything getting between the two layers, and they won’t collect dust. If you prefer, you can vacuum them occasionally. For stains, use water and mild soap.
Will there be light when closed?
There may be a sliver of light from the sides due to the mechanism. To reduce this, we recommend adding side channels, similar to those used in hotels. You may also see slight light leakage where the fabric layers meet. For a darker solution, like in baby rooms or for daytime sleepers, we recommend roller shades.
Can I upgrade to motorization later on?
Yes, you can upgrade your shades to motorization at any time. Our technicians will visit your home to install the motor and complete the programming on-site. Please note, there will be an installation fee if the upgrade is done at a later time, but it's included if you opt for motorization during your initial order.
