Vinyl vs. mesh

A clear panel, no weave.

Unlike zip-track or wire-guide screen fabric, vinyl has no weave, so air does not pass through. That makes it ideal for heated or cooled outdoor spaces, and it is why a wind sensor matters.

  • Clear vinyl: a full view, while it blocks wind, rain and cold
  • No airflow: best for heated or air-conditioned spaces
  • Wind sensor: highly recommended, since vinyl can catch wind like a sail
  • Need airflow?: choose zip-track or wire-guide screens

Questions

Clear vinyl screens, explained.

Warranty policy
What are clear vinyl screens?

Motorized exterior screens made of clear vinyl instead of woven fabric. They close in a patio, terrace or porch against wind, rain and cold while keeping the view.

How is vinyl different from screen fabric?

Screen fabric is woven, so air and some light pass through. Vinyl has no weave: it blocks airflow, which keeps heated or cooled air in, and gives a clear view out.

Do vinyl screens need a wind sensor?

We highly recommend one. Because air cannot pass through, vinyl can act like a sail in strong wind. A solar wind sensor raises the screens automatically to protect the motor and track.

Are vinyl screens only for businesses?

They are most common at restaurants, golf clubs and venues, but homeowners also use them for sunrooms and porches they want to use in winter.

Can several screens be controlled together?

Yes. Motorized vinyl screens can be grouped and controlled by remote, app or voice, which helps in larger commercial spaces.

How long does it take to get exterior screens?

Exterior screens are made in our Carrollton factory in about 2–4 weeks. Our technicians then install them, usually in one visit.

What does the warranty cover?

Our written limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship: motors and controls for 5 years, and fabrics for 5 to 10 years depending on the fabric. Register within 30 days of installation to be covered.
